Matthew at 11 months

So today Matthew turned 11 months old!!! I can't believe that in 1 month he will already be a year old. It seems like just yesterday I was pregnant just waiting and waiting and waiting for Matthew to be born. Today Matthew went to a friends 1st birthday party. They had a bounce house for toddlers and even though he is a little be small still to understand what a bounce house is he loved bouncing around. As of 11 months old Matthew weighs just over 18 pounds and is just of 27 inches long. He is still eating very well. I just wish he would drink more fluids and from a sippy cup more often.

Alabama 12-0

It has been a few weeks since I posted about Alabama football...so since Alabama has finished their season...12-0 (meaning they BEAT AUBURN) I thought I would post some pictures of Matthew on the big game day.

Oh...no...things are not looking to good for Alabama!!!

Come on Boys lets get it together!!!

Touchdown Bama!!!!! Roll Tide!!

YEA!!! We won 2 years in a row!!!!

Now beat those Gators!!!!

Trim up the tree...

Trim up the tree with Christmas stuff
Like bingle balls, and whofoo fluff
Trim up the town with goowho gums and bizilbix and wums
Trim every blessed window and trim every blessed door
Hang up whoboohoo bricks
Then run out and get some more!
Hang pantookas on the ceilings
Pile pankunas on the floor
Trim every blessed needle on the blessed Christmas tree
Christmas comes tomorrow
Trim you, trim me!
Trim up your pets with fuzzle fuzz
And whiffer bloofs, and wuzzle wuzz
Trim up your uncle and your aunt
With yards of whofut flant
Trim every house in Whoville from the cellar to the roof
Hang up a mile of dafflers
And three miles of snaffer snoof!
Hang dang-donglers on the bathtub
Trim the occupant the with floof
To every home in Whoville and to every blessed Who
Christmas comes tomorrow
Trim me, trim you!
Trim up the tree with Christmas stuff
Like bingle balls, and whofoo fluff
Trim up the town with goowho gums
And bizilbix and wums...
Trim up the tree with bizilbix and wums

So, yes....I am more than a few days behind on my blog!!! Hopefully I can get caught up in the next few days. We are so excited that mom, dad, Seth's dad and Step mom and our adopted Cuban Aunt Annie was here to get to see the Christmas Tree. Believe it or not....so far....neither the cats or Matthew have tried to climb the tree.

Thanksgiving Day

Today was so wonderful. We had mom and dad here along with Seth's dad and step mom and then my Cuban Aunt...Annie. Mom and dad put the turkey in a brine yesterday for about 12 hours and it turned out great. We also had mashed potatoes, green beans with mushrooms and bacon, corn on the cob, dressing, sweet potato pie and pecan pie. It was so good.

Matthew was a little grumpy today but he did get to eat some mashed potatoes and gravy and dressing. He seemed to like it OK but we ended up having to go and take a nap. We have so much to be thankful for and today was the best!!!

Thanks to Pop

My momma and daddy is in town visiting for Thanksgiving. Daddy has been very busy hanging up light fixtures in our new house. For our birthday present momma and daddy got us 2 chandeliers and a dimmer switch for the dining room and daddy is putting them up. Seth's brother, Aaron, got Seth a chandelier for his birthday to hang in our bedroom and daddy made sure it was hooked up right.

We are so happy!!!!

Thanks Pop!!!

Daddy's Birthday take 2

So tonight Matthew was feeling a tad bit better. Since we had such a hectic evening yesterday I decided to go to Publix and pick Seth up a birthday cake...although it was a day late.

Here is Seth trying not to drop...and almost dropping the birthday cake. The middle picture is hilarious because that is when the cake actually slid a little and almost landed in the floor.

Matthew is still acting sick but he has the same amount of energy as always so I am almost positive that it is not the flu. I called Dr. Goosby's office today and they indicated that the test had come back negative but sometimes those tests come back negative if the test is done too early in the infection. They are still treating his infection as if he has the flu so I am continuing to give the Tamiflu. He had a flu shot back at the end of Sept. and then the 2nd dose at the end of Oct. so by now he should be fully immune to the regular flu. I am still debating if he should get the swine flu vaccine or not. Dr. Goosby recommends it but I am a little scared of it myself. I mean he already gets a shot every time he goes to the doctor it seems like. Plus, what tests have been run on this shot and how it will affect an infant?? Truthfully, what proof do we have that it is safe for adults much less babies??? I am not sure that I want me or my child to be the guinea pig? (no pun intended...lol)

Anyway, I am going to head to bed early tonight. I actually feel a sore throat coming on so I better go and get some rest.

Have a wonderful Wendnesday!!!

Happy Birthday Seth!!!

OK...Today DID NOT go as planned??? When we woke up this morning...Matthew didn't seem like himself...he only ate 2 ounces of formula and seemed congested. So I scheduled an appointment to go to the doctor this afternoon. Thinking we would be in and out in like 10 minutes and Dr. Goosby would tell me that Matthew had a little cold and we would be on our way!!! Boy...was I wrong!!! First off he was playing and have a great time walking along the cabinets and doctors table then Dr. Goosby decided to do a nose swab to test for the flu. Well...it looks like Matthew has the flu. Although the test was never totally confirmed while we were there. I was hoping to get home and spend the evening with Seth since it is his birthday but instead we spent it getting Tami flu and an antibiotic for Matthew's ear infection.

Soo...in any event...no pictures tonight!!!

Happy Birthday Seth, my love...hopefully the weekend will be much better!!!

When did my baby turn into a toddler?!?!?!

Oh how I miss (even though I never thought I would say this) my little baby about 8 or 9 months ago? Although he cried....A LOT...and I will never forget that time....I would love to see his first smile one more time. Or the first time he looked in my eyes and knew I was someone special in his life..not just that crazy lady who always changed his diapers. Man...now he is Mr. Independent. Walking along the edge of EVERYTHING and then crawling when he runs out of an edge to follow. Trying the meow like the cats...even though it comes out as a strange screech he seems to make the same sound every time the cats are around.

I prayed and prayed for him to gain weight but now I am starting to have back pains again (from several years ago) and wrist problems again because he is getting SO HEAVY...(so ok that is a praise and a prayer request all in one). Tonight in Cracker Barrel someone actually said that he looked big for a 10 1/2 month old. I was so proud!!!

Now I am having to make sure that I do not put ANYTHING within reach on tables and in the floor. We put the toys back in the toy basket about 50,000 times every day and 10 minutes later he crawls over and pulls E.V.E.R.Y single one out again. So I just stopped trying to clean up after him until the end of the day. I worried and wondered for 6 months when he would get teeth (cause he was droolin' and chewin' since he was about 3 months old)..Now he has 2 bottom teeth and the 2 top are coming in with the two top on either side of the 2 middle getting started right behind them.

I am so honored and I LOVE being a mom!!! I would have 19 more if we wouldn't look like those weird TLC families...OK...maybe just 1 or 2 more...lol!!!

Tag...Your It!!!

So, tonight Matthew decided that he was going to be independent. He started crawling...all by himself around the house with me chasing him the whole time. (Oh the wonderful times to come) Anyway, he was also...I think...playing a game with the cat. He would chase the cat and of course they were terrified of him and ran from him but he thought it was a game so he starts chasing them around like an annoying little brother until he found their hiding place...under the bed and in the little cat house. He didn't find them in the cat house so he kinda gave up.

He was moving so fast I wasn't able to get very many focused pictures but he still is as cute as the dickens!!!!

Total Praise!!!

We went to church today. The first Sunday we have been in a long time due to varying excuse...some of them legitimate and honestly some of them not so much. I am sure glad that we went today because the Redemption Youth Choir from Redemption Baptist Church visited and sang the song "Total Praise".

It was awesome!!! Totally a great Sunday to go because they sang several other songs including "Papa Nou" a Hatian version of The Lord's Prayer and "Joshua and the Battle of Jericho". I was very moved by the wonderful harmonies in their singing.

Matthew apparently loved the music as well. In the nursery he was crying and throwing a fit until the choir started singing. They said that he immediately stopped crying and starting staring at the TV when the music started. That and a cracker calmed him down. After church we went to Chevy's (our favorite Tex-Mex place!!!). Matthew has been eating extremely well this weekend and he ate 1 1/2 jars of baby food for lunch and 3 for dinner along with a 6 ounce bottle this morning, oatmeal with 6 more ounces of formula before church and about 7 or 8 ounces tonight before bed. He is now getting 4 teeth on the top. A couple have already broke through and he has 2 more on the top that are bulging. I can't wait to see those pearly whites!!!

Well I better go off to bed. Although we have a day off this week I still have to get up tomorrow and go!!

Have a great night everyone!!!

Whew...another close one

Getting ready to watch the game with momma and daddy.

OOOO...It looks like this one is gonna be a close one!!!!!

Man...Alabama and their quarterback better pull it together.

Whew....it was a close game but the TIDE pulled it off in true TIDE form!!!

Now we just gotta beat Auburn and the Gators!!! Next week we play Mississippi State so we should beat them too!!!

Roll Tide Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes

Apparently Matthew LOVES the song...Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. Last week when I dropped by Ms. Cookie's to get Matthew they were having music time. (which thrills me to death since I am an elementary music teacher) Ms. Cookie said that he loved the songs "If Your Happy and You Know It" and "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes. I didn't think much of it until last night I was looking up songs on You Tube and ran across both of those songs and he had a jumpin' fit in his jumperoo.

This is him chasing me around the house.

I guess we better get ready because pretty soon he will be running up and down the hall. Our poor cats are already being tormented by him. Every chance he gets he will grab at their tails and fur.

Toddler years here we come!!! I am already exhausted.

Me and my Shadow

So no picture tonight but Matthew hit yet another milestone tonight!!! The past few weeks he has be crawling around the living room from his toy basket to the couch and back again. He even pulls himself up and walks along the edge of the couch for a change of scenery. Tonight he decided to take a little trip into the kitchen when daddy went for a drink of water. It is so cute because we here his little hands going smack smack smack and then huffing and puffing then smack smack smack again.

Later he decided to chase Roxie (our cat) down the hallway...but then got scared and started to cry because he ended up all alone because the cat (being very smart) ran and hid.

I go into the other room for something and what do I hear???

Smack huff huff smack smack smack huff huff huff...then a sweet little head emerges from around the corner!!!

Now I guess I will have a shadow for life!!!

How can I be upset about that???

Halloween ROAaaRRR!!!!!!!

Well...I would have posted a blog about Halloween before now but our internet, TV and phone were out until today so I am a little late.

First of all...we went to our clubhouse on Saturday afternoon to enter Matthew into a costume contest. We were so excited to take him in his lion costume that Nana made...but we were ecstatic that he won the contest!!!

After Matthew was declared costume king we decided to go back home for a little while and let Matthew rest until we went Trick or Treating. We got Matthew back in his King of the Jungle costume and took some cute pictures next to the jack-o-lantern. We also wanted to let him crawl in the grass like a real lion. He really had a great time.

Matthew loved trick or treating!!! We can't wait until next year!!!
