Rocky Mountain, Rocky Mountain

WOW WOW WOW...I never imagined that Colorado could be soooo beautiful. On the first day of our trip to Colorado we visited the Rocky Mountain National Park. There are two options for making the trip to the Alpine Visitor Center at the top of the mountain. We, of course, chose the most adventurous one. The 9 mile dirt road was full of spectacular switchback views and nearing the top scary overlooks the road narrowed and I could see straight down out of my window. We had an awesome trip and I will never forget the beautiful views and fun times we had driving to the top of the Rocky Mountains.

The whole trip we kept singing:

The beginning of a river.

Believe or not this is the Colorado River...it is a lot smaller here at the top of the mountain. Now we just have to visit the Grand Canyon to see it there.

Matthew stuck his foot in the icy Colorado River. At first he didn't react at all...after a few seconds he realized what true cold was for the first time. It is truly amazing how being unaware of a particular sensation allows you to experience it for longer. We immediately jerked our foot out of the water because we knew it would be cold.

Nearing the top it was so windy and cold but we couldn't resist getting a picture with the beautiful view behind us. Matthew didn't like that idea as you can see!!!

Daddy got tired of driving so we let Matthew take the car for a spin. Since we were on a one lane road we just took Matthew out of the car seat and let him experience the trip in the front seat with me. It was great because I could breastfeed him at any time and he loved getting to sit up front like a big boy. We figured if we drove off the cliffs then his car seat wouldn't help him anyway.

We loved our Rocky Mountain trip...hopefully we can go back sometime.

Check back on my blog every day for a few days to see more of our Colorado trip. I am doing a post a day for each adventure we had. We just got back on Tuesday evening and by far this is one of the most exciting and happy vacations I have ever had!!!

Back from Vacation

Hi everyone...I wanted to take some time to make a quick post to let everyone know that we are back from our Vacation to Colorado. We went to Rocky Mountain National Park, Red Feather Lakes, CO, Colorado Railroad Museum, Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak and Florissant Fossil Beds. Instead of taking one post to talk about all of the adventures we had I am going to post one for each of the above.

Prayer

Today my mom and dad's pastor...Bro. Bill Evans...fell off a ladder. He was pressure washing windows and fell from about 15 feet flat on his back. We know that he broke 3 vertebrete in his back but luckily so far he is not paralyzed. Tonight he had to undergo a 4 to 5 hour surgery to repair the injury and he will have several weeks of rehab and recovery. Please keep him in mind when you pray tonight...I am sure he is in a lot of pain.

Blog Make-over

I decided to do a blog make-over for myself!!! Every now and then I get kinda tired of looking at the same ole same ole so I changed the layout. Today was kinda a stressful day. I have a horrible cold. Seth had his cell phone stolen!!! and Matthew had a hard time eating..or maybe it was because I didn't have the energy to insist and encourage him to eat. I just gave him 2 bottles of formula instead of 2 feedings because I was so tired from our stressful day.

I have been meaning to post a video of Matthew swimming at our clubhouse pool on Friday. He was not really swimming but he would walk (with my help) across the kiddy pool. It was so cute!!! I love that little guy so much!!!
